A small tree to 10m with thick leathery leaves. The fruit of this tree is a small black drupe that is the favourite food of the bellbird. Naturally occurs in lowland forests thrroughout NZ.
Recommended pre germination seed treatment: Seed requires 4 weeks warm stratification followed by 4 weeks cold stratification. (For details refer to Propagation Information tab at top of page / Seed Dormancy).
